TOWN CENTER OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION ON APRIL 24
Please visit with your neighbors and friends at the OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATION on Saturday, April 24 between 10 A.M. and Noon. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 10 A.M. A Texas flag will be presented to Southside Place in honor of our 75th Anniversary and new municipal building. Refreshments and cake served. Tours of the building and public safety departments will be provided. An historical slide show will be on display in council chambers.

Park Association Citizen Survey Enclosed with Utility Bills
FIRE TRUCK PARK CITIZEN SURVEY
Please find enclosed the Fire Truck Park Citizen Survey. The Southside Place Park Association is preparing to renovate Fire Truck Park and the committee is asking citizens for their opinions and preferences. Please return the survey with your water bill or bring responses to the new city hall.
WATER/WASTEWATER RATE INCREASE TAKES EFFECT WITH APRIL, 2010 BILLING
On February 10, 2009, city council approved a five year water/wastewater plan and recommendation report based upon a cost of service and rate design study by Water Resources Management. Last month, the City of Houston also increased surface water charges for Southside Place and other municipalities as a result of their own rate study. Southside Place is required to purchase 80% of our annual water from Houston. All residential, commercial, and industrial customer rates will increase. Residential water rates will increase from $ 4.69 to $ 4.78 per thousand. Residential wastewater rates will increase from $ 4.46 to $ 4.48 per thousand. Winter averaging will be used for wastewater rates. Commercial water rates will increase from $ 3.87 per to
$ 3.95 per thousand. Commercial wastewater rates are $ 4.65 per thousand.
PROPERTY TAX BILLS DELINQUENT NOTICE
Property tax payments were due by January 31st. Monthly penalty and interest charges will be added to unpaid bills. "Homestead Exemptions Not Available" are printed on all bills.
COUNCIL ELECTION ON MAY 8 IS CANCELLED
During the regular monthly meeting on April 13, the City of Southside Place cancelled the upcoming city election. Three incumbents ran unopposed for a two-year term. The incumbents returning are Ashley Scott Bryan, Randy Sim, and Charles David Thompson.
RESIDENTIAL STREET LIGHT OUTAGES
Please contact city hall with residential street light outages. Most lights can be repaired within a week except those needing more extensive repair.
PET REGISTRATION
Please remember to register your pets with city hall for 2010. Twenty-five dogs have registered to date. Cost is $ 5.00.

TOWN CENTER DISTRICT CITIZEN INPUT NEEDED FOR UPCOMING PUBLIC MEETINGS
During the last several weeks, Southside Place demolished the 1940's city hall and public safety buildings. During the next 45 days, construction workers will be building the new parking area for the public and municipal building. A new concrete curb, sidewalk, and grass will be added to the remaining Town Center property during Phase II construction. Once completed, the city will be holding public meetings to discuss with residents the future usage of the remaining 110' of city owned property.
VEHICULAR PARKING IN SOUTHSIDE PLACE
Please remember that parking is not allowed on Southside Place streets between the hours of 1 AM and 6 AM. Please be safe and courteous to fellow neighbors by parking vehicles in front of your residential home. When calling the police department, please have your plate number, vehicle description, and your address for dispatch records.
BELLAIRE BOULEVARD STREET LANDSCAPING
Bellaire Boulevard landscaping and lighting in conjunction with TXDOT will begin during the last few months of 2010. In 2002, the city was awarded
$ 500,000 in grant funding. The landscaping committee has started reviewing landscape architect proposals.
